First off, I’d like to express my condolences and sorrow for the people who have lost relatives and friends in the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon today. I’d especially like to express my sympathy for the families of the emergency response personnel who lost their lives trying to save the people trapped in these buildings.

Second, I’d like to remind folks that now is not the time for division. I don’t like our current president, and I didn’t vote for him. But this incident goes far beyond partisan party politics and differences. I despise the man, but I will stand behind him and my government in this. Now is when we, the people of the United States and of the entire free world, must stand together. This cowardly criminal act cannot be justified in any way, shape or form.

Third, I’d like to point out that I’m not a particularly patriotic person. I was born and have lived my entire life in the United States, but I’m not naive. I know my government has done reprehensable things. But at this particular moment in time, all I can think of is retaliation. Utter, devastating retaliation. I am the type of person that cannot stand still when something I percieve as utterly reprehensable has occurred; but I am forced to sit in front of my television and seethe. Every bomb squad and swat team in the country is on standby; every police agency is on 12 hours shifts, mine included. But there is little we can do now but dream of revenge. I have already heard people complaining that more violence won’t solve anything, heard fears that any act of revenge could somehow result in a global war.

Bullshit. The entire world- even Islamic nations- are condemning this act. The entire world wants revenge. And I don’t think that’s an exaggeration.

Finally, a word- however futile and ineffective it may be- to the persons responsable. You have done something that only one other act in the past 100 years has managed to do- you have horrified and enraged the entire world community. The last time the United States was so galvanized was on December 7th, 1941. America is slow, fat and lazy, yes. We are slow to anger and often unable to reach a consensus on anything. But you have grabbed a sleeping tiger by the tail, and it is now waking up. We will still move slowly; we will gather the evidence and discover who is behind it. And when we have all the proof we need, we will act. We are slow to move, like a huge boulder, but once we do, we are impossible to stop. There will be no place on this Earth that you will be able to hide. None of your allies will shield you; even the Taliban government of Afghanistan has been quick to deny any responsability. They know that there is no escape from the wrath that is coming- a wrath that will be not only American, but global. A wrath that will scour whatever patch of ground you occupy and leave nothing behind. This wrath will not bring back the dead; this wrath will not solve the problem of terrorism. But the world is hungry for your blood, and it will flow.

what happened on the 11th of september was a very tragic day in our lives. i have a deep sorrow for the people who lost family members aswell as friends. i especially have a sadness for the firefighters and policemen who lost there live trying to save the lives of others. i myself work with the local fire dept. and when i heard all the man down alarms in the area around the trade center i felt sick to my stomach. things like this should never have to happen.

I understand the need for revenge so much. Hard as it is for me, I have to find the strength to want justice instead. No, the USA is not a perfect country, is not an innocent country, but they did not deserve the horror of the World Trade Centres. Nothing but hate for those who perpetraded the crimes
